Memorable Manitobans: Arthur L. McLachlan (1870-?)Dentist. Born in Wellington County, Ontario on 15 November 1870, tenth of twelve children born to James McLachlan and Sarah Ballantyne, he attended public schools of Wellington County and the Harrison Collegiate Institute. He taught school for three years then entered the Royal Dental Collegiate at Toronto, graduating with first class honours in 1897 and receiving the DDS degree. He practiced dentistry at Burlington, Ontario for three years before moving to Carman, Manitoba in 1900 where he continued his practice. In 1903, he married Lucy Gordon of Goderich, Ontario.
