Memorable Manitobans: Robert Murray McGowan (1865-1921)Businessman. Born in Ontario on 28 February 1865, he was the manager of the Kaufman Rubber Company in Winnipeg at the time of his death, which occurred at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 6 October 1921 from injuries sustained five days earlier in a hunting accident on Clandeboye Bay at Delta Marsh. A prominent sportsman, he had been a member of the Granite Baseball Club and President of the Granite Curling Club (1919-1920). He was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
