Memorable Manitobans: Joseph A. McCracken (1911-1991)Educator. Born in Ireland on 5 November 1911, he came to Canada at a young age and lived at Winnipeg. His long teaching career included service as the Principal of Newdale School (1942-1943), Dominion City School (1943-1945), Clearwater School (1945-1948), and Swan River School (1949-1951). He moved to Alberta in the early 1950s and continued to teach there. He died at Westaskiwin, Alberta on 29 March 1991.
