Memorable Manitobans: Wendelin Mann (1920-2015)


Born on 17 January 1920, the son of Albert Mann (c1893-1969) and Dorothea Mann (c1891-1971), he attended the Winkler Collegiate and Mennonite Brethren Bible College in Winnipeg, as well as earning BA (1959) and BEd (1960) degrees from the University of Manitoba. His teaching career included Burwalde School (1952-1954), Schanzenfeld School (1957-1959, Principal), and Jefferson Junior High School (1960-1961). On 4 September 1948, he married Mary Dyck (1923-2011) at the Mennonite Brethren Church at Kronsgart and had four children. He died at Concordia Hospital on 9 April 2015 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
