Educator.
Born at Boyne View, Trim, County Meath, Ireland, on 19 August 1882, he attended school at Dublin and taught in Ireland and England. He married Louisa Eleanor Keers (1891-1952) and had four daughters: Marion Adelaide Mackrell (1914-?, wife of J. Kozak), Laura Helena Mackrell (1916-1960, wife of C. Parkinson), Nora Kathleen Mackrell (1922-?, wife of Cam Gerald McKay), and Aileen Mackrell (wife of J. Frain), all of whom were born after the couple moved to Canada in 1912. He was Principal of Tyndall School (1913-1914) and taught at Gypsymville School (c1916), Moosehorn School (1921-1924, where his daughter Marion would later also teach), and Byng School (1925-1947). He died at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg on 23 December 1968 and was buried in the Gypsumville Cemetery.
