Memorable Manitobans: Lewis Emmett Lynd (1876-1961)Educator. Born in Simcoe County, Ontario on 3 May 1876, son of Thomas Lynd and Eliza Abigail Clement, he came to Manitoba where he taught school, including service as Principal of Newdale School (1920-1921), Oak River School (1921-1923), Pipestone School (1923-1927), Rivers School (1927-1929), Erickson School (1929-1930), Lenore School (1930-1937), and Clearwater School (1937-1940). He moved to North Vancouver, British Columbia in 1954 and died there on 8 January 1961. He was buried in Souris Cemetery.
