Memorable Manitobans: Isobel Kendal Jefferies (1905-1975)

Educator.

Born at Toronto, Ontario on 8 May 1905, daughter of William Owen Jefferies and Martha Elizabeth Scott, at an early age she came to Winnipeg with her parents and spent the remainder of her life there. She taught at Isbister School (1936-1945), Isaac Brock School (1945-1951), and River Heights School (1951-1952), and was the Principal of Jameswood Place School (1952-1954), Alexandra School (1954-1958) and Gladstone School (1958-1970) then retired in 1970. She was a member of the Retired Principals and Supervisors Club and the Retired Teachers’ Association. She died at Toronto, Ontario on 16 July 1975 and was buried in the St. John’s Cathedral Cemetery.
