University professor, administrator.
Born at Winnipeg on 9 September 1939, son of Frederick “Fred” Hofley (1900-1973) and Olive Lillian Cann (1896-1994), brother of Deane McArthur Hofley, he grew up in East Kildonan and attended Miles Macdonell Collegiate (1954-1957) and United College (1957-1961). He later obtained MA (?) and PhD (1966) degrees from the University of North Carolina. He taught sociology at the University of Winnipeg and served as its Dean of Arts and Sciences (1992-1997) prior to retirement in 2001. He died at Winnipeg on 2 August 2021.
