Memorable Manitobans: George Gunn (1836-1899)Farmer. Born in Scotland in 1836, son of Robert Gunn, he came to Canada at the age of 4 years and settled in Ontario. In 1874, he settled in the Rural Municipality of Springfield. He was a director of the Agricultural Society of Springfield and a trustee of the North Plympton School District. In 1866, he married Mary Elizabeth Day (?-?) in Oxford County, Ontario. They had five children: Jane Gunn, Joanne Gunn, Ella Gunn, Richard Gunn, and May Gunn. He died at Springfield on 9 May 1899.
