Educator.
Born at Wawanesa on 16 September 1910, son of Charles Clinton Gorrie and Evelyn Thornber (1890-1974), he received a BSc degree from the University of Manitoba in 1930 and later completed a BEd degree. In 1932, he began a teaching career as a teacher at MacGregor School, serving as Principal (1934-1935). He was the Principal of Minnedosa North School (1949-1952) before moving to Winnipeg where he taught at St. James Collegiate (?-?) and St. Johns Ravenscourt (?-1975). In 1975, he retired to farm at Baie St. Paul and established the Assiniboine Nurseries.
On 24 December 1932, he married Eva Bertha Mawson (1913-1998) at Winnipeg and they had two daughters, Fern Partington Gorrie (1934-2019, wife of John Muirhead) and Cheryl Gorrie (wife of Michael Whitehead). He was an avid naturalist and horticulturist.
He died at the Grace Hospital on 20 October 1990.
