Memorable Manitobans: Ernest L. Gargett (1883-?)

Hardware merchant.

Born at Weston super Mare, Somerset, England on 8 May 1883, son of F. T. Gargett and E. A. Holland, he quit school at the age of 17 to work in the hardware business. He came to Brandon, Manitoba in 1911 and worked as head salesman of the Brandon Hardware Company. He later resigned to become manager of the Kelly Hardware Company. On 2 August 1911, he married Mabel F. Clark. They lived at 208 Rosser Avenue.
