Educator, school inspector.
Born near Altona on 18 August 1906, son of Heinrich and Maria Funk, he was educated in rural one-room schools, Winkler Collegiate, and the University of Manitoba (BA, BEd). He had a 42-year teaching career, with positions at Bothwell School, Steinbach School, Sanford School (1944-1946), Altona School (1946-1951), and Gladstone School (1951-1953). In August 1953, he was appointed a Manitoba School Inspector, based at Shoal Lake, where he spent 18 years. He also served as a provincial magistrate. He was a member of the Masons, Order of the Eastern Star, and United Church of Canada. He died at Winnipeg on 19 November 2003 and was buried in the Waverley Memorial Gardens. He was survived by a wife, three sons, and two daughters.
