Memorable Manitobans: Edward Oscar Findlay (1860-1830)

Farmer.

Born at Cayuga, Haldimand County, Ontario on 30 March 1860, he came to Manitoba in 1882 and purchased farm land in the vicitinity of Snowflake. By the 1920s, he farmed 660 acres.

On 7 February 1883, he married Mary Jane Featherston (1860-1944) and they had two sons and seven daughters. He served as a councillor of the Rural Municipality of Louise for eleven years and a trustee for the Snowflake Consolidated School since its organization. He was active in Red Cross Work. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

He died on 7 September 1930 and was buried in the Snowflake Cemetery.
