Educator.
Born at Portage la Prairie on 28 May 1885, son of William Albert Fidler (1843-1919) and Elizabeth Anne Foulds (1843-1920), he grew up at Poplar Point and in the Rural Municipality of Posen. After teacher training, he taught at Centre School (1904-1906), West St. Paul School (1907), and Balmoral School (1909-1912), and was Principal of The Pas School (1912-1914).
He was residing at 171 Pritchard Avenue in Winnipeg when, in September 1914, he enlisted for military service with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was sent overseas with the 8th Battalion (90th Rifles) and was stationed in England and France, being wounded in action on the Western Front. He rose to the rank of Sergeant prior to general demobiliation in May 1919.
After the First World War, he returned to The Pas where he was President (1920-1921) and Secretary-Treasurer (1921-1922) of The Pas Branch of the Great War Veterans Association. He had moved to Winnipeg by 1926 and worked many years for the Taxation Assessment Branch of the provincial government until his retirement.
He died unmarried at the Deer Lodge Hospital on 3 August 1965 and was buried in the Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
