Memorable Manitobans: Margaret Adele Bain Fetherstonhaugh (?-1975)

Musician, volunteer.

Born in Montreal, she studied piano and came to Winnipeg in 1925. She took an active role in musical affairs in Winnipeg, serving for many years as president of the Women’s Musical Club. She was also involved in the Wednesday Morning Musicale (1937-1973), the Eva Clare Studio Club (1923-1929), and the Manitoba Music Festival (1966-1974), where she often played piano as an accompanist. For 25 years, she was president of the Altar Guild of All Saints Church Winnipeg. She was named the Volunteer of the Year in 1972, and received a Manitoba Good Citizenship Award the same year.

There are papers at the Archives of Manitoba.
