Memorable Manitobans: Laurie Edward Evans (1933-2016)

Plant scientist, MLA (1988-1990).

Born at Unity, Saskatchewan on 14 October 1933, he was educated at the University of Saskatchewan (BSc) and University of Manitoba (PhD). He was Head of the Department of Plant Science at the University of Manitoba. He served a single term in the Manitoba Legislature as MLA for Fort Garry (1988-1990). In retirement, he was a councillor for the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne. He died at Winnipeg on 19 June 2016.
