Memorable Manitobans: William George Cooper (1911-1983)

Educator.

Born at Dingwall, Scotland in 1911, he came to Manitoba in 1913 and settled at Macgregor. He taught in several Manitoba communities, including Narcisse School (1930-1935), Kenilworth School (1940-1941), and Pembina Crest School (1955-1956), and was the Principal of Ochre School (1941-1946), Bowsman Union School (1947-1948), Rathwell School (1953-1956), Oak Bluff School (1959-1960), and Rosebank School (1960-1961). He retired in 1961. He was a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association, Mentors Club, and Masons (McCreary Lodge and Prince Rupert Lodge). He died at Winnipeg on 15 March 1983.
