Memorable Manitobans: Robert Clarke Boyle (1869-1935)

Physician.

Born at Millbank, Ontario on 17 August 1869, son of Samuel Boyle and Elizabeth Busby, he was educated at the Stratford public school and, in 1877, moved with his parents to Winnipeg where he studied in Winnipeg and at the Portage Collegiate Institute. He entered Manitoba College in 1887, graduating in 1892 with training in surgery. On graduation, he worked as house surgeon at the Winnipeg General Hospital. He later moved to Morden to establish his own practice. On 9 September 1893, he married Margaret A. Y. Lane (?-?) of Winnipeg. He died at Vancouver, British Columbia on 18 November 1935.
