Memorable Manitobans: Sidney Henry Borbridge (1882-?)

Born at Ottawa, Ontario on 16 September 1882, son of Henry Joseph and Margaret Borbridge, he worked in the family harness-making business started by his grandfather, William Borbridge, before coming to Manitoba in 1902 to become manager of the firm’s branch at Brandon. Under his tenure, the company built a large warehouse and factory on Eleventh Street which employed 45 people. On 7 June 1911, he married Katharine Helen Wilson at Hamilton, Ontario. He was a member of the Brandon Club and the Anglican Church.
