Memorable Manitobans: Ronald Walter Baron (1935-2021)Educator. Born at Carlowrie on 31 May 1935, son of John and Mary Baron, he began teaching in the Winnipeg School Division in 1953, including at Kent Road School (1953-1956), William Whyte School (1956-1959), John Dafoe School (1959-1962), Rockwood School (1962-1963), and Andrew Mynarski VC School (1964-1967). He served as Vice-Principal of Isaac Brock School (1968-1972) and Principal of Aberdeen School (1972-1976), Elmwood High School (1977-1990), and St. Johns High School (1990-1993). In 1954, he married Jean Fostey and they had three sons. In 1993, he retired to Kamloops, British Columbia where he was President of the Kamloops Ukrainian Orthodox Church (1993-2015) and a member of the Kamloops Seniors Curling Club (24 years).
