Journalist.
Born at Winnipeg on 26 November 1907, son of George William Allan and Muriel Hester Wragge (1876-1938), he was educated at Appleby College (Oakville, Ontario), Royal Military College (Kingston, Ontario), and McGill University then returned to Winnipeg where he worked for 20 years with the Winnipeg Tribune, serving as City Editor, Sports Editor, and Columnist. He wrote the book Grey Cup or Bust (1954) and Grey Cup Cavalcade (1959) on the history of the Grey Cup football championship. On 10 August 1934, he married Dorothy Jean “Doll” Avent (1906-1989) and they had two sons: Ted Allan and George Bingham “Bing” Allan (1940-2019). He died at the Health Sciences Centre on 8 May 1979.
