Musician.
Born at Gimli on 29 October 1950, one of three sons of William “Bill” Zueff (1902-1988) and Sofia “Lena” Mirka (1909-1997), his early childhood was spent on the family farm near Fraserwood before they moved to Winnipeg in early 1957 where he attended Luxton School and St. John's High School.
His musical abilities were evident at an early age when he took up the violin at the age of 4. He began performing with the Senior High Orchestra at St. John's before he began attending the school. He left home in the mid-1960s then went to live with an uncle and aunt at Kamloops, British Columbia where he played violin with the Okanagan Symphony.
After returning to Manitoba, in 1970 he toured schools as a duo with Rick Neufeld then, in 1972, joined his first band, Prairie Dog. It played at the Montreal Olympics (1976) and on several television programs, including a CBC summer series “The Road Show”. Prairie Dog disbanded in 1978 but he continued to play with Neufeld, until a final performance at Kelwood (2024). He joined the D-Rangers in 2002. He released his only solo album “Widgetville” at Times Change(d) High and Lonesome Club (2018).
In 1971, he married Sigrid Louise McNicholl (1948-2024) and they had three children.
He died at his home near Ste. Anne on 18 October 2024.
