Educator.
Born at Winnipeg on 24 February 1934, son of Robert William Wiseman (1906-1984) and Mary Lotta Marcy (1908-1949), he attended school in East Kildonan and enrolled at the University of Manitoba. At the latter, he met Arlyne Patricia “Arlene” Rosenblat (1934-2012) and they married at Gimli on 29 December 1956. He graduated with a BSc degree (1956) and was a teacher (1957) and Principal (1957-1958) at Gimli Collegiate where Arlyne also taught (1955-1957). Returning to the University of Manitoba, he attained a MSc degree in Bacteriology and Immunology (1961). In August 1961, he and his wife moved to Scotland where he studied at the University of Edinburgh under an Adalsteinn Kiristjansson Travelling Scholarship and University of Edinburgh research scholarship. He graduating with a PhD degree in Bacteriology in 1963. He returned to Winnipeg, taught Medical Microbiology at the University of Manitoba from 1965, earned his DSc (1974, Edinburgh), and retired in 1990 as a Senior Scholar. In 1975, he was awarded the University of Manitoba Graduate Students Association Professor of the Year Award. He died at the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home in Winnipeg on 27 April 2012 and was buried in the Bnay Abraham Cemetery.
