Memorable Manitobans: Lorraine Boux West (1934-2017)Singer. Born at Winnipeg in 1934, daughter of Corinne “Corana” Cote (1906-1993) and Joseph Hubert Boux (c1907-1981), she was married to George West. Starting as a singer for the Ed Emel Orchestra, playing at the Fort Garry Hotel, she was approached by the CBC for television, both live and pre-recorded, in Winnipeg, Toronto, and other major Canadian cities. In later years, she appeared in a duo called “Sugar and Spice” with her friend Marie Ens, entertaining people in nursing homes around the city.
