Memorable Manitobans: Richard Alan “Dick” Wankling (1926-2004)

Municipal official.

He served as Mayor of Fort Garry from 1960 to 1971, and a President of the Manitoba Association of Urban Municipalities from 1966 to 1967. In the 1969 provincial general election, he was a Liberal candidate for the Fort Garry constituency, being defeated by Bud Sherman. He died at sea near Naples, Italy on 4 September 2004.
