Memorable Manitobans: John R. Walker (1949-2018)

Psychologist.

A life-long Winnipegger, he was a clinical psychologist who specialized in anxieties of children. He helped to found the Anxiety Disorders Association of Manitoba in the mid-1980s and served on the board of the Anxiety Disorders Association of Canada. He was Professor Emeritus in the Department of Clinical Psychology at the University of Manitoba and established the anxiety disorders program at the St. Boniface General Hospital in 1984, serving as its Director until retirement in 2014. He died of pancreatic cancer at Winnipeg on 14 December 2018.
