Memorable Manitobans: Peter Wagner (1916-1995)

Farmer, MLA (1958-1959), MLA (1959-1962).

Born at Fisher Branch on 6 June 1916, where he lived all his life, he was active in community affairs, including chairman of the local Co-op store, the local Pool Elevator, the local school board, the advisory committee for agricultural extension, the local hospital board, and the local cemetery. He was also District Director for Manitoba in the Farmer’s Union and a member of the Interlake Development Program. He served two terms in the Manitoba Legislature, starting in 1958, and re-elected in 1959. Re-election bids in 1962 and 1966 were unsuccessful. He died at Hodgson on 13 August 1995 and was interred in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery.
