Memorable Manitobans: Alexander “Al” Tomcej (1927-2015)Born at Presov, Czechoslovakia on 25 March 1927, he came to Canada with his family during the Great Depression. He grew up in Winnipeg and studied Architecture at the University of Manitoba. He practiced architecture with Green Blankstein Russell from 1950 to 1963. In 1965, he became a partner in the firm of Pratt Lindgren Snider Tomcej and Associates. He married Helen Mary Baldwin (?-1991) and they had two children. He died at Edmonton, Alberta on 1 March 2015. See also:
