Memorable Manitobans: James Alexander Thompson (1882-?)Real estate agent. Born at Selkirk on 7 April 1882, son of Thomas Edward Thompson and Huldah A. Cowan, he studied at the Winnipeg Collegiate Institute then, in 1898, became employed successively by the firms of Russell, Lang & Company then the book business of W. A. Davis. In 1906 he went into the real estate business. On 9 June 1908, he married Mary Evelyn Cameron, daughter of carriage maker John Cameron, and they had two daughters: Lenore Cameron Thompson (1909-?, wife of Richard W.
