Born at Vancouver, British Columbia on 12 September 1920, son of Shunosuke and Hide Suzuki, his childhood was spent at Chilliwack, Hope, and Strawberry Hill. In 1942, due to suspicions about the loyalty of Japanese Canadians during the Second World War, his family was brought to Dominion City to work on sugar beet farms. He moved to Winnipeg in 1948 and established the Suzuki Brothers Construction Company in partnership with his two younger brothers, Toru Suzuki (1922-2012) and Kaoru Suzuki (1924-2011). They built numerous residences around the city as well as some apartment blocks until his retirement in 1985. On 12 February 1955, he married Yoshiko Kitagawa (1926-2017) at the Manitoba Buddhist Temple and they had a son and a daughter. He was a member of the Breezy Bend Golf and Country Club. He died at the Grace Hospital on 16 January 2001.
