Memorable Manitobans: Frederick Hermann “Fred” Streich (1917-2006)Farmer, inventor. Born at Niverville on 24 March 1917, son of Adolph C. Streich (1887-1972) and Ottilie Recksiedler (1890-1977), brother of William Streich, he grew up on Fillmore Farm east of Clandeboye where his father was the farm manager. In 1941, he married Freda Margaret Sanderson (1914-1993) and, three years later, they moved to their own farm west of Clandeboye where they raised their daughter and two sons. With his brother, he experimented in the design of rotary combines that have now become commonplace. He retired to Selkirk in 1976 and died there on 23 May 2006.
