Memorable Manitobans: Claire Tisdale Street (1917-?)

Journalist.

Born on the famiy farm in the RM of Argyle on 21 April 1917, daughter of Hannah Isabella Clark and William Tisdale, niece of Walter Felix Tisdale and John Ephram Tisdale, she taught at Crystal City School (1939-1940) before working as a reporter for the Winnipeg Free Press. She spent some years in England where she married fellow journalist Samuel Charles “Sam” Street (1915-1972). After her husband's death, she returned to Canada and the Free Press, working there until retirement in April 1981.
