Farmer.
Born at Colborne, Ontario on 11 October 1873, son of James Fisher Smith and Ann Coyle, he came to Manitoba in 1896 and purchased land in the Darlingford district. He became one of the leading farmers of the municipality. He was in the machine business (1920-1923), residing in Darlingford and was engaged in looking after his large tracts of land which were mostly occupied by tenant farmers. On 23 December 1903, he married Arabella Elizabeth Waddingham (?-?) and they had four sons and two daughters. He was a trustee of the Darlingford Consolidated School and a member of the Union Church. He died at Morden on 3 October 1952 and was buried in the Darlingford Cemetery.
