Cleric.
Born at Wiltshire, England on 23 July 1882, he attended Cliff College and was a lay preacher for several years before coming to Winnipeg about 1907. He graduated from Wesley College about 1910 and served as a Methodist (and later United) minister at Birtle (c1913), Emerson (c1915), Macdonald (c1921), Victoria Methodist Church (1921-1925), Shoal Lake (?-?), Maryland United Church (1929-1937), and Killarney (1937-1939). On 15 July 1912, he married Reita Smith (1890-1952) and they had seven children: Gladys Julia Smith (1913-?, wife of Frederick John Lane), Joyce Barry Smith, Isla Norine Smith (1918-?), Joan Smith, Bert Smith, Cromwell Smith, and Barry Smith. He died at Stonewall on 20 April 1940.
