Memorable Manitobans: Robert Barton Scott (1840-1921)

Farmer.

Born in Peel County, Ontario on 14 December 1840, son of William Scott and Ella Barton, he quit school at the age of 15 to help on the family farm. He operated the farm after his father’s death, then bought another farm nearby. In 1897, he moved to Manitoba and bought a farm near Minnedosa at Section 35, Township 14, Range 17. On 14 January 1864, he married Marian Orr. They had two children: Howard Scott and Ella Scott. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He died on 26 January 1921.
