Memorable Manitobans: Sidney Irwin Schwartz (1933-2021)
Lawyer, judge. Born on 31 July 1933, son of Abraham H. “Abe” Schwartz (c1912-1967) and Betty Pitch (1913-1999), he attended the University of Manitoba and received a law degree. After practicing law for a number of years with the firm of Walsh, Micay and Company, he served as a judge on the County Court (1983-1984) and the Court of Queen’s Bench (1984-2004). On 20 November 1960, he married Sharon Flackman and they had two children. In recognition of his community service, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002).
