Memorable Manitobans: Sidney Irwin Schwartz (c1933-2021)

Lawyer, judge.

Born around 1933, son of Abraham H. “Abe” Schwartz (c1912-1967) and Betty Pitch (1913-1999), he attended the University of Manitoba and received a law degree. After practicing law for a number of years with the firm of Walsh, Micay and Company, he served as a judge on the County Court (1983-1984) and the Court of Queen's Bench (1984-2004). Around 1961, he married Sharon ? and they had four children. In recognition of his community service, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002). He died at Winnipeg on 17 May 2021.
