Educator, cleric, historian.
Born at Steinbach on 18 October 1902, he taught school for 43 years and became pastor of the Evangelical Mennonite Church of Steinbach in 1944. His early ministry was distinguished by his work with Mennonite conscientious objectors in prison camps in Western Canada. He later helped to found the Manitoba Mennonite Historical Society and Mennonite Museum, and he wrote extensively on Mennonite history. In 1970, he was awarded a Manitoba Centennial Medal by the Manitoba Historical Society. He died following a brief illness at Honolulu, Hawaii on 11 January 1988 and was buried in the Rosenort EMC Cemetery.
