Leonard Arthur Reimer

Educator, administrator.
Born at Steinbach on 26 December 1941, second of five children of Leonard and Bertha Reimer, he spent a year managing the produce department of a grocery store in Steinbach then attended Trinity College in Chicago, Illinois, studying history and education. After returning to Steinbach, he embarked on a teaching career, at the junior high level and later at high school, at the Steinbach Regional Secondary School. While there, he came involved with the Hanover Teachers Association. In 1976, he was elected as President of the Manitoba Teachers Society. After the conclusion of his term, he came a staff officer of the organization, retiring in 2004 as its General Secretary. He and wife Faith Carolyn Rempel (1944-2014) had two sons. He died at Winnipeg on 12 March 2023.
