Memorable Manitobans: Allen Reid (1887-?)
Farmer.
Born on a farm near Brandon on 5 June 1887, one of six children of Robert Reid and Mary Montgomery, he quit school at the age of 15 to work on the family farm until 1908 when he rented it then purchased it from his father three years later. He raised livestock and grew grain. On 1 January 1912, he married Gertrude Forsythe. They had a daughter, Hazel Bernice Reid.
