Memorable Manitobans: William Keith Rankin (1942-2014)

Architect.

Born at Vancouver, British Columbia on 27 November 1942, son of Gordon Keith Rankin (1915-1990) and Dorothy Rankin, he grew up in Brandon and Winnipeg. He attended the University of Manitoba, received a degree in Architecture, and joined the architectural firm of Moody Moore and Partners where he met his future business partner, Arnie Cooper. In 1974, they formed the firm Cooper Rankin Architecture. His designs of museums, malls, schools, commercial buildings, apartment blocks, and houses can be found in Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Calgary, and Florida. He also designed cottages on Lake of the Woods. In 1969, he married Patricia Rankin and they had a son and a daughter. He died on 19 January 2014.
