Memorable Manitobans: Poundmaker (1826-1886)
Aboriginal leader. He led Cree warriors in support of Louis Riel during the 1885 North West Rebellion. For his role in the incident, he was incarcerated at the Stony Mountain Penitentiary on 21 August 1885 but was released within six months, on 4 March 1886. See also:
