Sculptor.
Born at Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1945 to Marie Pavlikova and Ladislav Pavlik, in 1968 he moved to Canada with his sister and nephew. A gifted artist, he received a Fine Arts Diploma in Sculpture from the University of Manitoba. He applied his talent to his own art, and as Sculptor for the Manitoba Museum (1975-2000) where his work remains an enduring legacy for Manitobans.
His work included the Science Gallery exhibit “The Matrix” and the Cree family encampment figures and cliff diorama in the Boreal Forest Gallery. His work is also featured in the Morden Museum and at interpretive heritage sites in Ignace (Ontario), Batoche (Saskatchewan), and Pangnirtung (Nunavut).
He was a keen outdoorsman, especially enjoying cross-country skiing and mushroom hunting. Captivated by being on the water, he sailed his pride and joy, the Praha, on oceans and lakes for as long as his health allowed. With his wife Katherine Maisie Roos (1948-2022) he had one child.
He died at Trebon, Czech Republic on 29 January 2006.
