Memorable Manitobans: John Abram Neufeld (1927-2015)


Born at Springstein on 18 June 1927, son of Abram and Justina Neufeld, he taught in rural schools before moving to the St. James School Division where he was a teacher, Vice Principal at Birchwood School (1959-1962), and Principal of Lincoln Junior High School (1971-1973) and Crestview School (1971-1981). After retirement, he made jewelry and operated a catering business. He also volunteered at Age and Opportunity, Grace Hospital, Deer Lodge Centre, and Assiniboine Park. He died at Winnipeg on 25 July 2015.
