Donald John Morrison

Grain merchant.
Born at Minneapolis, Minnesota on 26 January 1889, son of Donald A. Morrison and Johanna Murray (1864-1936), he worked with his father in the grain trade at Duluth. He moved to Winnipeg in 1904 and attended the Winnipeg Collegiate Institute and Manitoba College. He became a member of the Winnipeg Grain Exchange in 1912. During the First World War, he served for several years with the Royal Air Force.
After the war, he joined his father in the Beaver Elevator Company and, in 1929, the company was absorbed by the Western Grain Company. At the time of his death, he was President of the firm.
He and wife May E. Morrison (?-1975) had four children: Joan Morrison, Robert Morrison, Donald Morrison, and George Morrison. The family lived at 209 Oxford Street. He was a member of the Masons (Assiniboine Lodge No. 114), Khartum Shriners, Manitoba Club, and St. Charles Country Club.
He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 12 August 1949 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
