James Andrew Moore

Businessman, municipal official.
Born at Westlock, Alberta on 24 October 1938, son of Frances and Frederick Moore, at an early age his family moved to Teulon where he was a delivery boy for a local drugstore and the Winnipeg Tribune. He worked in sales at Blackwoods Beverages and Burns Meats, moved briefly to Calgary, Alberta and returned to Winnipeg and settled in Charleswood, operating a recycling business for many years.
On 21 October 1960, he married Frances Elizabeth Caroline “Betty” Moore and they had two sons and a daughter. He founded the Westdale Community Club and served as its President. Active in politics at the municipal, provincial, and national levels for the Conservative party, he was a Winnipeg city councillor (1977-1983). He was a member of the Winnipeg Police Commission and the Winnipeg Convention Centre. In recognition of his community service, he received a 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation Medal (1992) and a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012).
He died at Winnipeg on 3 December 2024.
