Educator.
Born on the family farm near Shevlin on 10 August 1928, one of eleven children of ethnic German immigrants Henry Mohr (1887-1965) and Anna Wagner (?-?), he moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1946 and spent four years at Concordia College, intending to become a pastor. Instead, he moved to Winnipeg and attended the Manitoba Teachers’ College, graduating in 1952.
He taught at Maitland School (1952-1956) then moved to Morris where he taught grade 8 (1956-1962) and was the Principal (1962-1966) at the Morris School. He taught at the Morris Collegiate from 1966 until retirement in 1986.
On 17 July 1954, he married schoolteacher Agnes Single and they had a son and three daughters. Active in the community, he was a Scout leader, President of Morris Minor Hockey, and a member of the Morris Lutheran Church and Morris Community Development Committee. He was named Morris Citizen of the Year (1983) in recognition of his community service.
He died at Winnipeg on 20 March 2023.
