Memorable Manitobans: Christopher Metcalfe (1867-1947)Building contractor. Born in Yorkshire, England on 26 February 1867, he came with his family to Canada in 1904 and settled at Winnipeg where he worked as a building contractor. He and wife Agnes Walker (1864-1936) had three children: Ellen Metcalfe (1888-1972, wife of D. E. L. Fisher), Mary Madge Metcalfe (1891-1944), Eric Metcalfe (1903-?). He was a member of the Sons of England the Yorkshire Society. He moved to Vancouver, British Columbia around 1927 and died there on 30 July 1947. Some of his construction works in Manitoba included:
