Educator, archivist, community activist.
Born in Winnipeg on 11 March 1927, daughter of Martha Mary Hamilton (1901-1983) and William Frederick “Bill” Raven (1899-1972), she received degrees in Science and Education from the University of Manitoba then taught at Dauphin and Winnipeg.
In 1951, she married Alfred Angus Murray McPherson (1923-2001) and they had two children. In the 1980s, she was an assistant archivist at the United Church of Canada Archives. She served on the Board of Regents for the University of Winnipeg and was its Chair (1992-1994) and was active in the Schoolmasters' Wives Association and the United Church of Canada National Council. She co-edited Prairie Spirit: Perspectives on the Heritage of the United Church of Canada in the West (1985) and co-wrote All Things are Possible: A History of Westworth United Church, 1950-1990 (1993).
She died at Winnipeg on 19 March 2023.
