Physician.
Born at Ellendale, South Dakota on 5 August 1887, at an early age he came to Canada with his parents and lived on a farm in the vicinity of Newdale. He graduated from the Manitoba Medical College and practiced at Neepawa for 33 years, bringing the first x-ray machine to his practice in 1914. He moved to Winnipeg in 1947. He was President of the Manitoba Medical Association (1946-1947), and a member of the Winnipeg Medical Society.
He was married three times, first on 21 April 1915 to Catherine Elizabeth Harrison (1886-1945) at Neepawa, with whom he had a son, John Harrison Martin (1918-?). On 16 November 1946, he married Jean Glover Allan (?-1955) at the Crescent-Fort Rouge United Church, and his third marriage was to Mary Alice “Molly” Martin (1914-1979). He was a member of the Masons (St. John’s Lodge), Khartum Shriners, Granite Curling Club, and Harrow United Church.
He died at his Winnipeg residence, 1259 Corydon Avenue, on 30 September 1965 and was buried in the Garry Memorial Park.
