Military intelligence officer.
Born at Perth, Scotland on 4 September 1889, son of Duncan MacBrayne and Catherine MacGregor, he was educated at Perth. He came to Canada and served in the Royal North West Mounted Police (1907-1915). During the First World War, he served with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and was awarded the Military Cross. After the war, he continued to serve in the Canadian military until retirement in 1944.
On 10 March 1916, he married Margaret Findlay (1890-1956) and they had two children: Fiona Margaret MacBrayne (1890-1956, wife of ? Findlay) and Fiona Margaret MacBrayne (?-?, wife of Jake McGillivary Tedford). He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
He died at Vancouver, British Columbia on 25 November 1963 and was buried in the Royal Oak Cemetery.
